چکیده

The presence of a fluid is generally implied when using the concept of turbulence. In contrast, our experiments concern the large amplitude vibrations of an elastic sheet. First, we exhibited a transition whereby the plate rotates at constant velocity. Second, we examined the apparatus which was used in theatres to mimic the sound of thunder and showed that it shares many features with hydrodynamic turbulence. A contribution to approximate analytical evaluation of Fourier series via an Applied Analysis standpoint; an application in turbulence spectrum of eddies

In the present paper, we shall attempt to make a contribution to approximate analytical evaluation of the harmonic decomposition of an arbitrary continuous function. The basic assumption is that the class of functions that we investigate here, except the verification of Dirichlet's principles, is concurrently able to be expanded in Taylor's representation, over a particular interval of their do...

Effect of impeller speed on properties of quiescent zone and entrainment in mechanical flotation cells

Flotation process in mechanical cells is carried out in highly turbulent conditions. In this work, the impact of impeller speed on four characteristics of the quiescent zone, i.e. zone height, turbulence, solid percentage, and gas holdup, and their relationship with the entrainment is investigated, and it is shown why at a higher impeller speed, entrainment is not significant. The height of the...

Physical Mathematics Seminar Direct Numerical Simulation of Multi-Component Flows

We report the development of a sharp interface/level set method for the Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS) of multi-component flows. Special care has been taken to treat problems involving high-density ratios and large surface tension forces in an accurate and computationally efficient manner. Calculations are presented for 2D waves falling down a vertical wall, wherein good agreement is found w...

Analysis of the Characteristics, Physical Concepts and Entropy Generation in a Turbulent Channel Flow Using Vortex Blob Method

In this paper, using vortex blob method (VBM), turbulent flow in a channel is studied and physical concepts of turbulence are obtained and discussed. At first, time-averaged velocities,  and , and then their fluctuations are calculated. To clarify turbulence structures, velocity fluctuations and  are plotted. It is observed that turbulence structures occupy different positions and move with con...

Study of forced turbulence and its modulation by finite-size solid particles using the lattice Boltzmann approach

The paper describes application of the mesoscopic lattice Boltzmann (LB) method to the simulations of both single-phase turbulence andparticle-laden turbulencewhich aremaintained by a large-scale forcing. The disturbance flows around finite-size solid particles are resolved, providing the opportunity to study the detailed interactions between fluid turbulence and solid particles at the particle...
